Once you have booked your Italian villa and you’ve decided how long you’re going to stay you can prepare yourself for a wonderful time at the beach.

1 Tropea, CalabriaTropea is a magnificent place to visit, even if you’re not an avid lover of the beach. However, if you do love to spend time close to the shore, this is the place to be. Although this part of Italy is not as well known as many other places in the country, this does not mean that you shouldn’t spend at least one day here.
Tropea may not have the biggest beach, but it is one of the most beautiful, and the sand will be a welcome sight once you’ve made your way through the Old Town. Why not spend time on the beach reading a book, dipping your toes in the water, and briefly gazing up at the magnificent view of the town behind you? Please note that the beach can get quite busy, especially as it’s not the biggest, but you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a spot to lounge as the sun beats down.
Vasto is an incredibly beautiful beach that is home to white sands and glorious sunshine. The unspoilt coastline is a welcome break from the more tourist orientated beaches that seem to fill this country. If you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, and you would like to spend time on a beach that has clear blue waters, this is the place to be.
Once you’ve had your fill of the quiet beach at Vasto, why not make your way to the family beach which is a little further to the south? Or take a walk to the north where you will find some old fishing platforms that are sculpture-like? Alternatively, you may want to stay at the wonderfully quiet beach where you can spend hours on end uninterrupted while the sun beats down on you.
Slightly south west of the capital, Chia is home to an amazing beach that really does have to be seen to be believed. The beach can be found surrounded by a pine forest, adding a touch of something magical to the area. With white sand that seems almost powdery, and unbelievably clear water, this beach looks like it could have been a part of a movie set.
Lay on the curved beach and marvel at the green hills on either side. Feel the clear blue water on your toes, and spend at least a few hours basking in the sunlight as you enjoy your time on a truely special beach.
Although La Pelosa Beach can get quite busy at times, it’s still a very beautiful beach that needs to be explored. One of the things that makes this beach special is the old castle ruins located nearby, and almost in the middle of the sea. With stony outcrops and clear blue waters that seem to go on forever, this is the beach to visit.
You should be aware that the beach is surrounded by quite a few hotels and restaurants so if you’re looking for a quiet beach you may want to go somewhere else. However, if you can visit this beach in the early hours of the morning or during the spring or autumn the beach won’t be quite as busy. Paddle in the waters, watch the fish swim by, and find a sun lounger to spend a few hours on as the sun touches your skin and your troubles seem to be a million miles away.
Located in Alghero, and complete with white sands and crystal clear waters, Spiaggia di Maria Pia is a must-visit beach. Feel the sand in between your toes as you make your way to the shore, and let the cool waters lap against your body as the sun beats down. Marvel at the distant hills that make their way around the beach, and see the plants and that have tried to make the sands their home by weaving across the sands.
Visitors to the beach have the chance to hire a sun lounger and parasol for a few hours if they wish, but there’s also the opportunity for you to bring your own, or take a blanket and sit on the sand. This beach is a wonderful one and is well worth a visit, especially as the sun starts to set as the views can be quite amazing.
