10. Purple drank

It is also known as “sizzurp” and it is a mixture of cough syrup, which contains the narcotic drug codeine, and sugary soda or soft drinks such as Sprite or Mountain Dew. This mixture suppresses the respiratory system and stops breathing because it contains a high amount of codeine which is approximately 25 times the recommended dosage. The problem increases when purple drank is used with alcohol and other drugs. The phenomenon of mixing cough syrup with soft drinks to get the purple drank is known to be popular in the hip hop community.

It is one of the most common games among teenagers and they can play it with each other or do it by themselves through tying the rope to doors. Teenagers choke themselves to experience the feeling of a fainting spell as choking leads to cutting off the air and blood flow to the person’s brain which causes strokes, comas, bleeding inside the brain, brain damage and it may lead to death.

8. Huffing

It was common in the past years and returns back again to be present among teenagers nowadays. Teenagers put cleaning fluids on a piece of cloth, rag or bag and breathe it. The chemicals that can be found in the cleaning fluids have bad and serious effects on the brain especially the areas that are responsible for making decisions and these chemicals can also damage the liver and kidney and can lead to sudden death.

7. Alcohol enemas

This trend is not very common among teenagers and college students but it exists and it is considered to be one of the deadliest trends. Alcohol is poured into the colon through using a tube that is inserted in the rectum to directly deliver alcohol in the bloodstream and this leads to poisoning the blood because the colon does not have alcohol dehydrogenases that make alcohol less toxic.

It refers to eating small amounts of food or even starving throughout the day for leaving a room in the stomach and consuming large amounts of alcohol. What is harmful is that consuming alcohol on an empty stomach affects the blood sugar level, leads to strong intoxication, causes serious hangover and prevents the body from getting the necessary nutrients that are required for completing different functions.

It is one of the most exciting trends which are common among teenagers, however it is risky and may lead to death. This trend depends on lying like a board on any surface with your face down and you have to keep your balance or you will find yourself dead or at least injured. Those who participate in this activity take photos of themselves while doing that and upload their photos to the internet which encourages others to take part in such activity trying to do more daring and dangerous movements.

4. Bath salts

They contain two main drugs which are MDPV and mephedrone and these drugs lead to severe psychosis, chest pain, paranoia and hallucinations. Teenagers who use these substances take them through being smoked, injected or snorted and may finally lead to suicide.

3. Vodka eyeballing

There are some teenagers who avoid drinking alcohol because of being afraid of its smell that will make their parents know they are drinking alcohol and this is why they resort to other ways for taking it. Vodka eyeballing is among the worst and most dangerous trends that spread among teenagers as they drink alcohol through their eyes. Alcohol is quickly absorbed to be directly delivered in the bloodstream and this causes catastrophic results such as scarring and burning cornea and it may also end in blindness.

Teenagers scale high buildings and climb on rooftops without having any safety equipment.
